PANGU the name

In Chinese mythology, pan gu is the creation figure who separated sky from earth to form the world as we know it.

For us, the name PANGU carries a simple idea: go back to the beginning. Understand your roots. Then bring that wisdom forward into something new.

That's what we hope to do with tea. Take a craft that's over a thousand years old and make it a part of everyday life. A reminder to stay grounded, and move through life with intention.

If you’re looking for a more meaningful daily drink that is wrapped up (literally) in thousands of years of rich history - you're in the right place.

At PANGU Tea, you will find simplicity, intention and respect, at the core of everything we do.

We honour the traditions and knowledge that came before us, and respect the thousand year history behind the craft of tea and tea resins.

Our products are natural and simple - only containing the necessary tea leaves and botanicals.

We hope the 'better-for-you' choice becomes the easy choice.

Growing up between two worlds

On a personal level, this is both a love letter and apology to my heritage.

Growing up in Australia as part of the Chinese diaspora, I was sandwiched between two cultures. I grappled with a hybrid existence for many years before eventually settling into a deep love, acceptance and appreciation for the traditions that shaped me.

Years pass, motherhood arrives and parents age. The importance of preserving culture and tradition becomes even more apparent. Our language, specifically cantonese and teochew, was dying, our traditions were fading.

PANGU Tea was born out of a deep desire to preserve connection to heritage and identity.

While not quite the multi-step tea rituals that formed the mainstay of my childhood, PANGU Tea carries the depth and intention of Chinese tea culture into everyday life without the complexity.

If you made it this far, thank you. And thank you for being part of this small act of cultural preservation.

Gratefully,
